After a contentious debate in Washington D.C., Congress has finally passed healthcare reform that will have dramatic impact on many of Californians. As this is an exciting time for all of us, it is also a time that many families will have questions on how the reform affects them and their healthcare coverage. The 20 million uninsured californian will soon have have something to look foward to.

The
Medi-Cal
program provides no- or low-cost healthcare coverage to persons who are aged (65 and over), blind, disabled, or pregnant, and to children up to age 21. Some parents and other adults may also be eligible for Medi-Cal, e.g., caretaker relatives, refugees, etc. In Plumas County, you may apply directly at the local Department of Social Services intake office or contact us

Children's Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) program is a federal and state supported preventive healthcare program that provides free health check-ups for children up to age 19 in low-income families. Children receive complete preventive exams at no cost. For more information, contact us.

Healthy Families provides low-cost health, dental and vision coverage for children who are not eligible for no-cost Medi-Cal. Premiums are $4 to $24 each month per child, with a maximum of $72 per family. Eligibility is determined by family size, children's ages and family income. This program is available to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and "qualified" immigrant children under age 19. For more information please contact us.

Healthy Way L.A. is a no cost health program that provides health care coverage to low income uninsured adult citizens and legal residents between the ages of 19 and 64 years of age. This health care coverage is provided at Healthy Way LA clinics and health centers (for example, DHS Hospitals, Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center, Comprehensive Health Centers, Health Centers, and Community Clinics). You must be a Los angeles county resident, a legal permanent resident for at leat 5 years or a U.S. citizen, and must meet income guidelines. Call 1-877-666-4952

Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) provides healthcare coverage for uninsured pregnant women up to 60 days post-partum. To qualify, women must be no more than 30 weeks pregnant, California residents for at least 6 months, not eligible for no SOC Medi-Cal, uninsured, and have incomes within AIM guidelines. Women with separate maternity deductibles or co-payments over $500 may also qualify. For more information, contact us.

Free or Low-Cost Community Clinics
in LA county provide community wide health care services using the ATP program (Ability-to-Pay)or the PPP Program (Public Private Partnership) are on a sliding scale based on the clinic and/or the family income, family size and services provided. ORSA (Outpatient Reduced-cost Simplified Application) If you can not pay for your outpatient medical care, test or medicines, you may be eligible for the ORSA Program. You may not have to pay anything or only a small amount. ORSA is available for outpatient medical care, including emergency services, at any of the County hostpitals and clinics listed on the Resource page of this website or contact us for more information.

Family Planning, Access, Care & Treatment (Family PACT) Low income women, men and minors without health care coverage for family planning services, may be eligible. For more information, call toll-free 1-800-801-6330 or contact us.

Glendale Healthy Kids. If your child does not qualify for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families and is with out medical or dental insurance and if you are struggling to pay for prescription or glasses then thisprogram can help. for more information call 818-548-8104 or contact us.
